Kauai’s verdant cliffs and canyons give the island its nickname due to the lush vegetation that grows there, from flowers and trees to crops like coffee and cacao. Botanical gardens dot the island, creating a safe place for exotic and endangered plants. Make sure to have a taste of the local produce!
North Shore Beaches
1 Hotel Hanalei Bay offers direct access to Puʻu Poa Beach, which commands incredible views of the mountains beyond. The nearby Hanalei Bay also offers beaches with excellent surfing, as well as the charming town of Hanalei.
Whether you like to stroll in the surf or dive right in, you’ll find the perfect spot.

Currency: The U.S. dollar (USD$). Credit cards are widely accepted, and many will convert your currency. Look up current exchange rates here.
Electrical Current: Kaui uses a 120-volt, 60-cycle A.C. with Type A or B plugs. You’ll want to bring a voltage converter and plug adapter if this is not your country’s standard electrical current. Check your electrical device manuals to see if your phone, laptop and camera are dual voltage.
